Orange and Yellow Fruits and Vegetables

Canada’s Food Guide recommends that adults eat an average of one *orange* vegetable every day. That’s because orange/yellow vegetables are a great source of an important antioxidant known as beta carotene, minerals like folate and potassium, as well as vitamins A and C. They are also low in fat and high in fiber.

Who are the orange “champions”? Carrots; pumpkin; yellow, orange and red sweet peppers; sweet potatoes; squash. Apricots, cantaloupes, mangoes, nectarines, papaya and peaches also contain vitamin A and can be chosen instead of one orange vegetable.
