This was the title of a TV report from Radio Canada’s show “L’Épicerie”, aired last Wednesday. Making the difference between the true bargains and the “booby-traps” is not always easy, and that’s were SOSCuisine can be a great resource to consumers.
Obviously, being featured in such a renowned show made us very proud and happy! There was just a small funny hitch: The name of our colleague Pierre Lamontagne has been inadvertently interchanged with that of Mr. Desautels, who was also interviewed

With a little knowledge and some planning, it is always possible to eat well and healthy without spending too much money. Here’s a video from the CBC’s “Recession Guide” serie, where Cinzia is revealing some of the prices to look for. It aired almost 3 years ago (2009-04-07) but it provides price points that are still useful today.

Canadians are expected to pay more at the grocery store in 2013, especially for meat and eggs, according to a forecast by University of Guelph researchers. General food expenditures will increase between 1.5% and 3.5%, which means that a family of 2 adults and 2 kids, spending about $280 per week, should expect to spend close to $500 more this year.
Hence, it is even more important to ‘buy smart’. On January 9th, Radio-Canada’s influential TV program l’Épicerie, followed the Vallières-Beauregard family to the supermarket and met with budgeting adviser Olga Cherezova, in order to learn about the best saving tips (Watch the video, in French)

Have you ever watched “Til Debt Do Us Part” or “Princess”? If you have, you surely understand why I was so pleased when money expert Gail Vaz-Oxlade contacted me a few weeks ago proposing an interview on her weekly program on radio Newstalk1010.

The Canadian Diabetes Association granted SOSCuisine the “favourite online service” status in its recent review of online resources for people with diabetes.
It mentions that our diabetes meal plans meet the nutritional guidelines of the Canadian Diabetes Association, Health Canada and Diabète Québec. This article was published in the Spring 2012 issue of the Diabetes Dialogue magazine.

No, I’m not standing for the next elections… And yet, last Saturday while I was shopping at the Jean Talon Market, I was accosted thrice – and that too in the nicest possible way – by women who greeted me eagerly with the following words: ‘Ms. Cuneo, I voted for you’.
‘How’s that?’ you’re asking yourself. Well, it’s just that I had become one of the 25 finalists in the ‘Woman of the Year’ contest organised by Chatelaine.
Obviously I am thrilled. Not only to have been nominated but also to discover that there are people voting for me and taking the trouble to stop me in the street to tell me that! I guess this is what politicians dream of
