Poach: While the technique of poaching may seem too hard to attempt, it is a great alternative to baking or grilling. Poaching involves lightly simmering an item over water. It is mostly done with eggs, fish and fruit. Why? Because these foods are often considered fragile and poaching helps to preserve the flavor and shape of the food. Poached eggs are great for Eggs Benedict and poached salmon is an oft-used method to keep the salmon's flavor.
