Attualmente, nessuna dieta specifica è riconosciuta come trattamento ufficiale per la fibromialgia; tuttavia, alcuni approcci nutrizionali appaiono promettenti. Una dieta a basso contenuto di FODMAP può rivelarsi utile per le persone affette da fibromialgia che presentano anche sintomi della sindrome dell’intestino irritabile. Parallelamente, la dieta mediterranea sembra rappresentare una strada promettente per migliorare alcuni sintomi e la qualità della vita, sebbene le evidenze al riguardo siano ancora preliminari.
In ogni caso, l’obiettivo dovrebbe essere quello di adottare un’alimentazione equilibrata, piacevole e personalizzata – adattata alle esigenze del singolo – anziché imporre numerose restrizioni dietetiche prive di solide basi scientifiche.
